Luca Tóth

Luca TÓTH
(April 7, 1989, Budapest, Hungary)

Luca Tóth is a Hungarian animation director, born in 1989, Budapest. She studied animation at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) in Budapest. After receiving her BA diploma in 2011, she went on studying at Royal College of Art for her Masters degree. Her graduation film ‘The Age of Curious’ won the Jury Distinction Prize at Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2014. After studying and working in the UK, Luca moved back to Budapest where she founded the Fakt 13 Visual Lab with her cousin, Máté Tóth Rivodics. At Fakt 13 Visual Lab, she made her first independent short film `Superbia’, in co-production with MAUR Film (CZ), Artichoke (SK) and Boddah (HU). ’Superbia’ premiered at Critics’ Week in Cannes in 2016 and got selected into more that 80 international festivals. Her latest film ‘Mr. Mare’ debuted at Berlinale in 2019 and won several awards, including the Oscar-qualifying Børge Ring Award for Best Animation at the Odense International Film Festival and the Best Short Film at the Viborg Animation Festival in Denmark, as well as the Jury Award at the Bucheon International Animation Festival in Korea. ’Mr. Mare’ was produced by Boddah (HU) in co-production with Sacrebleu Productions (FR).
