although her given name is “Megumi” the kanji used for her name 「愛 」is most commonly pronounced “ai” which means “love”. As a result, at Studio Ghibli she is known by the nickname “Ai-chan”「あいちゃん」.
born in Ehime Prefecture
went to Tokyo for college
1981: graduated from the Tokyo Designer Gakuin College (東京デザイナー学院 aka TDG) where she studied animation
1981: after graduation she began working for Doga Kobo animation studio (動画工房), worked on almost all Studio Ghibli films in some capacity
