Lina Gagnon obtained a Bachelor’s degree in aesthetics and art history at UQAM in 1971. Since 1973, she has devoted herself to animation. First assistant at the National Film Board, she collaborated on the film Premiers Jours (1980), winner of 8 international awards. Her approach continues at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, with Frédéric Back for the film The Man who planted trees (1987), winning an Oscar and more than 35 international prizes.

She directed the film Une famille pour Maria (1992) in the collection Rights au Coeur, at the NFB. A witness to international animation and a participant in Canadian animation for more than 25 years, she is now an educator.
