Ula Bruno

Bruno gained the interest of animation during her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. There she invented her own animation technique inspired with the theater of shadows – she named it ‘umbroscopy’. (Latin umbro – shadow) .
In 2014 she created her first umbroscopic project “Przedswit”. 
“Lexicon of Reflections” was her graduation diploma, that was presented at the Short Film Corner on the Cannes Movie festival (France) and got two nominations: on the Premiers Plans festival in Angers (France) and Dwa Brzegi festival in Kazimierz Dolny (Poland). It was made in traditional 2d animation technique, where she used only ink and blank paper. 
Since her graduation from Academy of Fine arts she started cooperation  with GS Animation Studio in Gdańsk and Letko Animation Studio in Warsaw as a 2D animator. 
In 2019 she received a grant from the Polish Ministry od Culture and started the umbroscopic project with other artists creating the movie trailer of ‘Gdana’ – animation made only with umbroscopic technique. At the same time she started running her own Youtube Channel that is dedicated to the art of animation and related issues.
